Recommendation #2: Cloth Diapers

Oh yeah, you heard that right! We are cloth diapering our twins.

And before you can ask, yes….. there is so much laundry!

Cloth diapering is one of those choices that seemed a little intimidating at first, but once I gave it a try, I realized it wasn’t nearly as scary as people make it out to be. And while they do still make the white ones that you have to fold like origami and try not to brutally stab your wiggling baby with a safety pin, I go the much easier route!

My recommended brand is Mama Koala! But, let me back track a little… When it comes to the world of cloth diapers, there are many kinds.

Prefolds are simple rectangular pieces of absorbent fabric that you fold and secure inside a cover.

Flats are a single layer of fabric that you fold yourself—they're the most budget-friendly but take a little practice. (These are the ones with the pointy bits!)

Fitted diapers look more like disposable diapers and are very absorbent, but they still need a waterproof cover.

Pocket diapers have a pocket where you stuff absorbent inserts, making them one of the most popular choices for busy parents because they're easy to use.

All-in-Ones (AIOs) are the closest to disposable diapers since everything is sewn together, while All-in-Twos (AI2s) have snap-in inserts that make changing and washing a little more flexible.

Now back to the Mama Koala! These are a pocket type diaper, and a great all around choice! Your AIOs may sound very convenient, but the prices are what really deterred me from that option. This mama be broke ya’ll! LOL

If you're just getting started with cloth diapering, Mama Koala diapers are a fantastic place to begin. They're affordable, easy to use, and adjustable. Which is great when your kids double in size every month! As pocket diapers, you can add different inserts, making them great for everything from quick daytime changes to longer naps. Plus, they come in so many adorable prints that diaper changes become just a little more fun.

Cloth diapering is not only cost effective, but better for your baby in the long run. Babies who are cloth diapered tend to potty train much sooner than disposable diapered babies, but also our girls are 7 months old and have not had a diaper rash since we brought them home from the Nicu!

So don’t let the idea of cloth diapers scare you off! You may be surprised by how much you preffer them!
